What are the job requirements for a Cable/Broadband Installer/Digital Phone?

Since installing cable/broadband services requires you to enter people's homes, candidates for this job must be able to speak and understand English fluently.  Candidates must also adhere to an Image Policy that requires you to be well groomed and wear clothing that is clean and practical for the work.  Each candidate must have a truck, van or an S.U.V. with a ladder rack.  (No, we don't hire partners or helpers).

What if I don't have a ladder rack?

CFCC can help you find one.  Candidates should be prepared to spend anywhere from $100 to $300 for a proper ladder rack, depending on your vehicle.

Do I need tools for installing Cable/Broadband/Digital Phone services or will CFCC provide them to me?

A basic set of hand tools are required for this job.  When available, CFCC may have items in inventory for new hires to purchase.

Are there any other additional start-up costs I should expect to pay for?

Yes.  A $50.00 application fee is mandatory and covers the background check, training manual and the issuance of two company shirts.  Commercial insurance is required; premium is $294/year, and is required up front after completion of the training in the form of a money order.

Do I have to pay for training?  Do I get paid for training?

No.  CFCC provides in-depth, hands-on training for all qualified candidates.  In addition to field-training, candidates will spend time in classroom workshops learning the basics of cable installations.  At CFCC we pride ourselves on our safety record and extensive time is spent in this area.  Training lasts 7 to 12 days.

How do I get paid?

Cable/Broadband Installers are compensated for piece-work.  A detailed list of pricing definitions will be explained in classroom workshops.

What is a typical week's pay for a new Cable/Broadband Installer?

Depending on the skills and quality of an individual's ability, new cable techs can earn from $500 to $700 per week.  More experienced installers who have been in the field for 6 to 12 months are earning on average $850 to $1000 per week.

What are my hours?

CFCC is contracted to install cable/broadband services Monday thru Sundays.  Installers are required to be at the CFCC Warehouse for daily check-in no later that 7:00am.  Actual work hours fluctuate depending on the daily work load, but a typical day ends at 6:30pm.
